November 13, 20214 yr I will be applying for a Non-OA Retirement Visa. It is my understanding that a one time exemption is made for household goods within six months of entry. Because sea freight shipping is so high, I would like to delay this until fees come down. Would it be possible to get a series of two consecutive Non-OA visas and ship household items on the second visa. I would let the first expire after the first year and apply for a second instead of an extension of stay. Anyone have experience? Any holes in this strategy? Thanks.
November 13, 20214 yr OP, There is a forum that covers your question. One of mods might move it. Not convinced that 2 non O-A is best idea. With a non O and extension it's easy to kill that off at any time. Just exit without a reentry permit. At some point reenter and obtain new non O. Edited November 13, 20214 yr by DrJack54
November 13, 20214 yr There is no exemption for non-oa visa holders. The exemption is only for those working here on a non-b visa and have a work permit. November 13, 20214 yr Author That's interesting as the link sites the exemption available for non-residents but I do also see that the documents ask for a work permit. At the same time every law firm on the internet specifies the exemption for retirement visas.

November 13, 20214 yr Author Curious. The Thai version is different. It states that one of three documents must be presented and lists the work permit as one of the three. The other being the actual non-immigrant visa for one year. I wonder if the English is a translation issue. https://www.customs.go.th/cont_strc_simple.php?ini_content=individual_F01_160426_01&ini_menu=menu_individual_submenu_02&lang=th&left_menu=menu_individual_submenu_02_160421_01
November 13, 20214 yr Sorry but it is a well known fact that only those working here and Thais get the exemption. Many years ago there was a exemption for retirees but the was only a temporary measure that was rescinded.
November 13, 20214 yr No exemption. Best to sell everything and buy new again in Thailand. Just bring personal items that have special significance and aren't replaceable. My view on it.
