Featured Replies

A 52-year-old Canadian-Chinese man was charged in the Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday with  possession and trafficking of 170 kilogrammes of mixed drugs. The accused was identified as <deleted> Yong Qing, a Canadian-Chinese tourist residing at a rented condominium in Chamkar Mon district’s Tonle Bassac commune.

He was charged with “drug possession and trafficking” under Article 40 of the Law on Drug Control which carries life imprisonment upon conviction. Anti-Drug police officer Major Nuon Sothearith told Khmer Times that <deleted> is believed to be a foreign drug ring leader hiding in Cambodia.

He said <deleted> was arrested on November 10 after the Interior Ministry’s Anti-Drug Department in collaboration with Phnom Penh police led by the court’s deputy prosecutor staked out the condo and followed them seizing a substantial amount of drugs belonging to the accused at a local shipping transport company in Sen Sok district’s Khmuonh commune on October 27.
