Until now I had got my brother in the UK to post via ems track and trace to me items such as bank cards and it has worked fine taking about 7 days.

However yesterday I received his letter after 15 days.

It had been opened and resealed and the customs declaration had been altered from "2 documents" to "driving licence"

"bank card"

The resealing had been dated and initialed by Customs.

Presumably the extra delay was because Customs were opening an awful lot of similar letters with no doubt the best of intentions.

Previously he did not have to do a customs declaration for an ordinary letter.

I did once try a courier service and their package was ripped open and resealed so I vowed not to use couriers again especially as I subsequently had a v bad experience with a courier service tripling the price of an imported item in cahoots with Customs.

I do object to Customs ripping open my letter and altering the declaration making it highly vulnerable to fraud.

Any experiences of getting secure letters from the UK to Thailand without a dangerous customs declaration would be appreciated?

My son posted a small Jiffy bag containing a cheap phone and SIM card. Posted though the Post Office Track/Sign on 13th. 5 to 7 days. First they said no battery but then changed their minds.  I’ll let you know if it arrives

I have never had ANY issues with Royal Mail tracked.

Customs DO NOT open ALL letters, but they may take random samples from an entire shipment, thats normal practice.
