Marine Plastic Waste Prevention Project progresses in Preah Sihanouk

Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia Mikami Masahiro hopes the holistic system of waste management under the Marine Plastic Waste Prevention Project will radically accelerate Preah Sihanouk to be a clean city.

 

Ambassador Mikami said this when went on the ground on Monday to inspect the waste management sites in Preah Sihanouk for the implementation of the project which is being undertaken by the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the auspices of the Government of Japan.

 

“We hope that our project will support Preah Sihanouk’s efforts to improve the environment and make the city cleaner,” he added. The Embassy’s second secretary Onishi Ai told Khmer Times yesterday that the project commenced in January last year and will take two years and seven months to be completed at a cost of about $3 million.
