This year’s celebrations of the annual Loy Krathong festival, on Friday November 19th, will embrace the “new normal” lifestyle, as all visitors to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s approved venues must show proof of two COVID vaccination jabs or COVID-19 negative test results for a test done within 72 hours prior to entering the venue.

Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Kriangyod Sudlapa has announced this year’s locations for official Loy Krathong festivities in the capital, under the COVID-Free Setting and Universal Prevention measures.

The first location is under the Rama 8 Bridge and the event will be held from 5pm-10pm. This location will invoke the atmosphere of an olden day market, with local products from 50 the districts in Bangkok for sale and Thai traditional performances.

Perhaps they "forgot" that being vaccinated does not mean  Covid free ?

Getting back to the  "New Normal"  feudal times lifestyle  where every serf knows their place.

All this will achieve is driving people to "Do their own thing" and to hell with what the government want to impose

Got to be joking right?

30% now unable to attend due to a lack ov vaccine or unwilling to have a test.

Fortunately, not in Bangkok to deal with this as my Thai wife is still waiting for the Moderna vaccine shots we paid for months ago…

That unvaccinated people will be shut out of the social life was easy to predict.

So anybody who wants to join the social life should have put some effort in getting vaccinated.

I think the number of people who wanted to get vaccinated but just couldn't is very small, and these still have the option to present a test.

Just wait 2 or 3 more months, wouldn't surprise me if by then you can only enter a mall or eat at restaurants if you are vaccinated.

Why not allow open air bars on beach road with the same precautions to be open?

80%+ are already vaxxed in BKK, and the antivaxxers can suck it up or get a test done. Outside of BK, pople will do their own thing with mostly no restrictions anyway.

What was just said "culture is more important than personal choice" ? Something is seriously wrong here and I fear it will end in tears and violence.

And by then fully vaccinated is unlikely to be 2 jabs, it will be 3, 4 and then 5. Good luck with that!
