BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister wishes Thai people a safe, happy, and healthy Loy Krathong festival, as people across the country are expected to come out and celebrate this special occasion.

Government Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana today said Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha encourages the organizers and participants of tomorrow’s Loy Krathong events to adhere to the Universal Protection guideline against COVID-19.

Observers of this traditional festivity are encouraged to consider floating only one Krathong basket per family or per organization, and to select Krathong baskets that are made of environmentally friendly materials in order to reduce waste and environmental impacts.

The prime minister ordered related agencies to review lessons learned from tomorrow’s events in order to better improve disease control measures to be implemented for New Year festivities.

The Prime Minister, his wife, and members of the Cabinet will be attending the New Normal Loy Krathong event at Khlong Phadung Krungkasem next to the Government House, where strict COVID-19 preventative measures will be implemented, including temperature screening, hand sanitizing, and entry registration on the Thai Chana platform.

He said "be happy." But no drinking alcohol. It causes covid. No laughing. Rapid inhaling and exhaling causes covid. Don't stand near anyone, it causes covid. Don't think for yourselves, it causes covid. We will think for you because we know better than you. We were trained to think by the military.????????

I wish everyone here a happy loy krathong

Looking forward, (as you all can imagine), to the inevitable, carefully planned 'Covid related', lockdown/emergency measures to be initiated either before, or after, Christmas, New Year.

Control, control, control.

Control, control, control.

And yet the plan, according to a Cabinet Meeting, is to reopen January 16th.

The Nation.

Oh please. The last 20 months have demonstrated how little you care about the masses. No fake expression of goodwill will change that perception.

Show us. Stop telling us. Stop the charade. We know who you are, Cha Cha. You are a man of insincere words, not sincere action.

See, he is a sweet guy. Wait, he didn't wish it for the foreign residents?

Happy Loi Kratong to you, Lung Tu.

You don't understand. We are aliens and not part of the Buddhist culture. So we can't benefit from Loy Krathong's good wishes. Hold on! Does that mean that wishing my Thai family 'A Merry Christmas' when they are eating my home made Christmas pudding, is falling on barren ground and a waste of time?????????

Thanks brother Prayuth.   And thank you for the conservative path you've plotted for us.    If I had your power, this place would look like the Grand Lisboa from Mae Sot to Trat by now.

In fact a Thai eating Christmas pudding gets no benefit from it. They can not taste it or get nutrition from it. It may even injure them because it is not of Thai Culture. Very Be Careful!

They’d be happy if he’d resign.

The great and benevolent leader has already insured happiness. Now, he is showing the vast purity of his heart, by allowing the people to celebrate, and have some fun.

He is lowering unemployment.

He is growing the economy.

He is doing everything in his power to open the country up again, and increase tourism revenue.

He is increasing exports.

He is abiding by all of the terms of the ASEAN charters he signed, and allowing the duty free importation of all beer throughout ASEAN. Bintang, Beer Lao, Bia Saigon, Bia Huda, Bia Ha Noi, Dagon, Saigon Special, 333, are on all of the supermarket shelves as we speak. We are not longer subject to the very low quality local beers, as promised in the recent ASEAN charter, that Thailand agreed to and signed.

He is making visa policy easy, simple and streamlined, and all tourists are very happy about that.

He is working on the attitudes of government workers, and making sure they are open and friendly to both tourists, and ex-pats.

He is improving traffic and public safety.

He is working day and night to eliminate the air quality issues, that have become a catastrophe for the nation. Corruption is being eliminated, and innocent fall guys are no longer getting charged for murder, and being put to death.

The taxi mafia on Samui and Phuket have been eliminated, and tourists can now get a taxi at a fair price. They are also adding multiple options of cheap public transportation on the Southern islands.

Life is better for all now that this great man is demonstrating his genius and vision on a daily basis. All he cares about is the welfare of his own people, and the happiness of both tourists and the ex-pat community. He contemplates this day and night.

Thank You Mr/Gen/PM Prayut. See, how easy it was. You can really be nice when you want to.

Yes, it's a Thai cultural thing for its subjects to be happy, think only about 800 years of tradition and culture - ignore such ideas as personal freedom.

Think about a proletariat trapped for generations in a society designed for obedience to its elitists. Endorsed by the coup leader PM whose military tradition began with overthrow of a monarchy for its own absolute power.

A very appropriate spokesman for happiness.

Maybe Dear Leader and his cabinet could do a wee bit more to actually make the general public happy and healthy. Just a thought……

The eyes are the window of the heart. :annoyed:
