They either had no idea, wanted to make life difficult for you, or the rules did change, personally I would have challenged it as immigration is a 3 hour round trip for me, and if they changed the rules on me, I would probably do as most of Thailand does, drive without one and if pulled over, ooops, forgot it in my other car and slip the cop 200 baht 🙂 Thailand, the land of constant rule changes. -

Do Australians MIND that they do not have a vote?
If voting in Australia was not compulsory, the turnout would mirror America. Second-class Australia does not have the largest prison population in the world. Second-class Australia has never had to teach its schoolchildren how to avoid getting shot. Second-class Australians don't have to bankrupt themselves buying prescription drugs to keep themselves alive. AFAIK no Australians have marched on their seat of government for the purpose of overthrowing it. We have enlightened laws on voluntary euthanasia and abortion. Our last mass shooting was almost 30 years ago. Unlike Americans, we saw sense. We are in control of who comes to our country. I suppose it's too much to ask the OP to think, before posting egregiously stupid garbage. -
