Popular Post webfact
File photo A tourism business leader in Hua Hin-Cha-Am has blamed the government for a serious debacle that has seen the temporary cessation of Air Asia flights to and from Hua Hin and Chiang Mai. The service was resumed in mid October after a 5 month delay caused by the pandemic. There were flights with a load factor of 70% every Friday and Sunday and optimism was high that the service would help reignite the stagnant tourism sector. Udom Srimahachota, vice president of the Hua Hin and Cha-Am hoteliers' association said government incompetence had led to Air Asia stopping the service. Government departments had not consulted properly within their ranks and the private sector over work being carried out on the runway at Hua Hin airport. Air Asia cited safety concerns in pulling out of the service until further notice. The work is expected to take three months and effectively means a huge missed opportunity both for Chiang Mai and the seaside resorts during the high season, said Udom. scorecard
Been trying to make an AA booking Suvarnabhumi to CNX for last 2 days. Their website seems to be a mess and not 'joining the dots' to create a booking. Hope it's running properly soon, I want to use up part of a large credit. IMO rubbish!! Maybe Air Asia's commonsense states "not commercially viable" given so few passengers!!! Hua Hin is "dead" until the Chinese gamblers may arrive in droves?? 1
spidermike007
Another example of brain dead leadership. This work could not have been done earlier? How long was this airport closed for? HH airport is likely one of the most under utilized airports in the world. And now this? Another boil on the face of Prayuth, and his hapless clowns. They really must be dismissed. Such failures.

With the aim of attracting a million international tourists in the next three years, Hua Hin is introducing itself to the world and Hua Hin Airport is central to this revitalisation. Hua Hin Airport currently serves flights from Kuala Lumpur and Chiang Mai, but its potential is immense. Adding more airlines flying to Hua Hin and making the airport a destination in itself is the first step to develop Hua Hin as another crown jewel of Thailand. Funny stuff. https://www.traveldailymedia.com/several-airlines-are-keen-to-fly-to-hua-hin-thailand/

assayer
I understand from an article published in the past few days that Hua Hin is the prime location for Thailand's first casino. Could there possibly be some relationship between the two issues.
