Ministry of Labour expedites development of tourist laborers in Andaman coastal provinces

The Ministry of Labour expedites the development of laborers in the tourism industry in the five Andaman coastal provinces. It also has a plan to construct a database of laborers in the provinces with the Department of Employment.

Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, Somkiat Chayawong (สมเกียรติ ฉายะศรีวงศ์), says at present the five Andaman coastal provinces, including Phuket, Phang-nga, Krabi, Ranong, and Trang, lack skilled laborers in hotel and tourist industry as they have changed to work in other sectors. The Ministry has therefore initiated the project to train unemployed people in the five provinces to have skills in hotel business and tourism.

In addition, those who participated in the project will be trained on foreign languages, middle-level management, and will receive money from the organizer of the project. The length of the training depends on skills of the participants.

Bad choice of words perhaps? Nobody wants to be seen as a 'laborer' in the hotel and tourist industry. Tourism in this region is "world-class" - is it not?
