Thailand has made it easier for foreign visitors to enter the country, particularly those arriving by land at the Nong Khai border post.

The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) in Thailand authorized the relaxation of entrance requirements for international visitors, including returning Thais and foreign residents, yesterday.

According to a press release from TAT News, the loosened limitations will make travel easier under three travel schemes, including TEST & GO, Sandbox Program, and Quarantine, starting on December 16th.

Travelers will be able to enter on land at Nong Khai's border crossing, in addition to arriving by air, beginning December 24 if they fulfill the vaccination and testing criteria, according to the press release.

Furthermore, instead of a one-night stay in a hotel, on-site testing will be done using an antigen test.

Travel must take place in one of the approved countries (now 63, including Laos), and tourists must stay for a minimum of 21 days. Returning Thais and foreign residents who have previously traveled from Thailand are exempt from this requirement.

Thais and foreign residents with national healthcare coverage, on the other hand, are exempt from the requirement to purchase an insurance policy with a minimum coverage of USD 50,000.

All participants over the age of 18 must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 using an approved vaccination at least 14 days before traveling to Thailand, with a negative test result acquired 72 hours before departure. Visitors must additionally register for a Thailand Pass in order to enter the country.
