But he said that the good news was that the emergence of the new Omicron variant had not had any effect yet on arrivals.

Dude, this variant just started to close things 3 days ago.  A little quick to make this statement. Maybe you should have said "Had not YET had any effect yet on Arrivals"  Maybe it was a transliteration issue and that's what he meant.

"With 100,000 already from January to October and 300,000 expected in December we will hit 500,000 arrivals this year".

I noticed the word "expected", let's hope the statement is more correct than the expected 5 million tourists that tourism and sports minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn predicted...????

Note the word " arrivals",

Not tourists.

Presumably do not want to admit the number who are not tourists and wanted to get back as soon as easier quarantine requirements were made.

Guess what may happen to the numbers when they have returned and its then mainly tourists.

"We got 93 so that's a 100 and 100 we have had with the 300 that we haven't had yet that's 500" lol .

A rare insight into the mystifying world of TAT maths. And as others have so rightly stated arrivals, not many arrivals and even fewer tourists.

He pointed to a main market being Germany noting that its nationals were coming to Thailand in continuing good numbers.

It also appears that there is a lot of reciprocation being seen with a lot going the other way! Presumably they have some property in Germany.

Sounds like Germany is having a bad Winter so far, or is it like most places in the

world. People have been stuck at home for 2 years and are getting anxious to

travel anywhere warmer.  I wish I was as optimistic as TAT, but that is impossible as I am

much better at math.  Good Luck to all the Thai people who are waiting for the international

tourist to start arriving, the numbers are still very low. Really.

Thai Math from a Tourism Dept Leader no less.

100 K + 300 K = 500 K

Its quite easy to see how the National Average I.Q. is only 89

You missed the 93 we had this month which is a 100 apparently ???????????????? when you add that to the 100 we have had and the 300 we haven't had you get 500....simples

The other 100 000 is arrivals from November which weren't counted in the figures

Well it was 93 which isn't a 100 at all and the other 300 are people who haven't arrived yet so. No.
