Popular Post webfact
Daily News Thai caption: Fake News The Royal Thai Police spokesman described as fake news circulating on the Line app that their organisation was going to become the "Ministry of Police". The data in files being shared was not from the RTP, stated Pol Maj-Gen Yingyot Thepjamnong in comments reported by Daily News yesterday. Any changes in the structure of the police would come from police reform moves pending in parliament and would be done according to the government and the law. The RTP like everone else must follow the legal process. An investigation is underway to find out who is behind the latest misleading claims, he said. He stressed that it was important for chief Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk that the Thai public had faith and pride in their police force. Popular Post mtls2005
Up until 1998 the RTP reported to the Minister of the Interior, after which time they report directly to the PM. One could argue they already are a ministry. Since the most recent coup they've become a political enforcement tool. Their recent assault on Amnesty International is but one of hundreds of shamefully brazen political acts of late.

Popular Post lujanit
Let them call themselves by whatever name they want. It doesn't change the fact that they are an extortionist, thieving lazy lot. Illegal immigration of workers, owners of gambling dens and bars. Anything illegal they are involved in. The faith and pride disappeared a long time ago.
thaibook
Think of the departments in the new ministry ... Department for the protection of criminals (for a fee) Department to contol illegal immigration and slavery (to our benefit) Department for promoting illicit activities (prostitution, gambling) Department to blackmail officials to sharing their gains Department of education - to teach policemen to ignore the truth, the law, and reality Department of human resources or how to reward the best schemes for making more money ....

Gsxrnz
This is more about the bureaucratic lines of control as opposed to a mere name change but it's all simantics anyway. When you're being butt farked you don't really care whether the aggressor is called a rapist, a pervert, or a minister - the outcome is the same. mikebell
'The RTP like everyone else must follow the legal process.' 'the Thai public had faith and pride in their police force.' This was said without the slightest trace of irony whilst fighting to keep a straight face. After politicians RTP must be the most hated people in the land.
