Popular Post webfact
Italian-Thai Development PCL issued a statement Wednesday offering assurance that the imprisonment of its president, Premchai Karnasuta, for poaching and other offences will not affect the operations or management of Thailand’s leading construction company. In the statement, the company said that it had named Premchai’s youngest son Thoranis Karnasuta as acting president, effective from December 1st, as Premchai begins to serve his sentence at Thong Pha Phum district prison. Today, the Supreme Court upheld the thirty-eight-month prison sentence handed down to Premchai by the Appeals Court. Pedrogaz
I am shocked that he has actually seen the inside of a prison cell....is this a turning point for Thai justice? Will the Red Bull heir be brought to justice, or is he grandfathered to receive hiso immunity? I can't believe that he will serve his sentence....I'm guessing a medical discharge for diabetes.

Popular Post webfact
Life of privilege, powerful connections ends with jail for panther-hunting tycoon Premchai By Thai PBS World’s General Desk The president of Thailand’s largest construction company Premchai Karnasuta, 63 is seen with a group while being detained in the Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary in Kanchanaburi province on Thailand’s western border, Feb. 4, 2018. (Photo by Thailand Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation via AP) The life of construction tycoon Premchai Karnasuta has been turned upside down over the hunting trip he made back in early 2018. For wildlife lovers, the jail term of two years and 14 months handed to the 67-year-old super-rich businessman is justice for the protected species – including a black panther – that his group shot for pleasure. The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) called the case “a victory for wildlife and the rule of law”. With his left eye bandaged and a walking stick in his hand, Premchai shuffled into the Thong Pha Phum Court on Wednesday (December 8th) morning to hear the final ruling. The Supreme Court, as expected, upheld guilty verdicts against Premchai and his accomplices – all of whom were his staff – on a string of charges related to illegal poaching inside a wildlife sanctuary. In addition to the jail term, they were also ordered to pay Bt2 million compensation. Don't kid yourself. The "operations" and "management" of these family-owned mega businesses don't depend on one or another family member heading the company. They attain their roles not because of their huge expertise in any particular field but simply because they have the "right" surname, their main responsibilities usually consisting of not much more than to siphoning off a healthy proportion of the operating profit. Italian-Thai would function even without a Karnasuta scion at the helm. Look at the boy. How old is he? 22, 24? What "expertise" can he possibly lend to the company without which it couldn't survive? 6

rudi49jr
If animals could hold and fire a gun, I would give them the right to protect themselves that way. See how many guys would still be tough enough to go out hunting (‘for sport’) if they ran the risk of getting shot themselves.

The red letter day should be the day he is released from prison after he has completed his full 38 month sentence. I doubt that he will be eating Thai prison food which, by looking at him would be good for his overweight bloated body. Anything less or doing his time in a prison hospital is a failure of justice, but only to be expected here. soi3eddie
Why no picture of him entering the slammer or sitting in his cell? The authorities seem to whip out the cameras for a photo opportunity whenever they catch a farang for overstaying or doing a minor wrong such as feeding fish. Why no photo proof that Premchai is actually banged up thus highlighting how good a job was done by law enforcement...

They see no fallout or political ramifications. I guess since they don't deal directly with the public they need not worry about such things. Isn't this Aunutin's corporation?
