:D

ok so i'm 24 year old white british guy living in thailand since january 2007 on a non-immigrant O visa.

my visa will end in febuary 2008, so i am now looking into what other visa to apply for to stay here as i dont ever want to go back to england.

I've been looking into a work permit, but i'm kinda confused. So here is the thing, My gf's dad is a head master at a top school in thailand and he wants me to work there, I was about to go on a course for a TEFL certificate, however I then read that I also need a uni degree to get a work permit as a teacher, am i correct by saying this?

If i cant get a work permit because i need a uni degree, then what can i do?

can i apply for a non-im type 'B' visa?

what documents would i need?

Also if this all fails i think i'll just take some language course and get a year visa for that.

Seriously i dont know what to do, all i want is to live here with my gf, get married and settle down, but is this possible for a 26 year old british guy?

Any help as to what i can do next to extend my living here?

Tobey :o

If you can just stay here forever without working at your age I envy you. You could certainly study and get a visa that way. That could last as long as you can stretch out your studies, would could be several years.

As for working, you can get a work permit with a TEFL certificate but without a university degree. Work permits for teachers can be confusing, so get some help. Your girlfriend's father could probably help make it easier in his position. You could then get an extension your non-immigrant B visa based on having a work permit.

You should probably also only post when you can remember how old you are. :o

A non immigrant B visa would require employment paperwork in your case and believe most Consulates in the area also need to see proof of work permit application these days.

hahaha I noticed I had wrote to difference age, but I am 24. I just didnt have much sleep when writing it. Anyway well done on spotting the mistake :D

Yeah i'm hoping that as her fathr really wants me to work there, he can somehow fix a work permit for me, but we'll soon see.

Thanks for all the comments so far :D

I'll keep it posted as whats going on.

To be honest you do not have much chance of a work permit or long term visa.

There are plenty of young Thais who are better qualified than you and who do not have jobs.

Go home, get the degree and TEFL and then come back.
