Married to a Thai in Australia and where to get cert translated

Recommended Posts

The first step is that it has to be legalized/certified. The Australian embassy does that.

See: https://thailand.embassy.gov.au/bkok/Notarial_Services.html

Any translation service should be able to do the translation. After it is done the it has to be certified by the Department of Consular Affairs' of the MFA in Bangkok.

Since it can vary from one Amphoe to another it is best to ask the local one what is required to register a foreign marriage. One thing that is often required is a certification his passport and then have it translated so best to have it done in case they want it done.

Ather are topics in this forum about it. Marriage and divorce

I recommend the Chulalonghorn University Translation Services in BKK - Thai to English; English to Thai.

They do a quick and excellent job and your translation comes with a nice Uni stamp.

Send your documents by PDF to them and they will tell you the translation cost.

I did my Thai Marriage translations to English there.

They are agreed by the BKK Belgian Consulate.

I would never do by post. What if the original documents are lost in transit?

Use a trusted agent or DIY at MRT Klongtoei.

Thai MFA has an office inside MRT Klongtoei Station, which is more convenient and less crowded.

If sent by EMS the chance of it getting lost are about zero.

He probably does not live in Bangkok so he would prefer not to wait there for it to be done.
