People living nearby alerted police who rushed to the college. College students were protesting in the college compound, demanding for the rector to resign. Jai Dee Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 College students threaten to block Rama I road if their demands are not met Rector of Pathumwan Technology College resigned on Thursday after some 500 college students staged a protest and thretened to block Rama I Road if he refused to step down. Somsak Thongngok informed the protesting students that his resignation will complete after the college's board endorsed it. Some 500 college students staged a noisy protest on Friday morning in their college compound to demand their rector to resign. They threatened to block Rama I Road if their demand was not met. People in nearby area of Pathumwan Technology College were nervous as they thought they heard sounds of explosions and gunshots from the protest. However police who rushed to the scene found that they were just sounds of firecrackers. The students demanded that Somsak resigned immediately and replaced Saranrot Pornpong, deputy rector for special activities. They said Somsak protected Sanranrot who filed false complaints with police against ex-president of the College Students' Association. The students threatened that if their demands were not met, they would block the busy Rama I Road in front of the college.
