Sim Card For Thailand/cambodia/laos/vietnam?

Featured Replies

will be coming to Thailand soon for a 6 month break and will be travelling to various areas and countries like Laos/Cambodia/Vietnam as well.

I am currently with O2 in the UK and can access the net on my phone (XDA).

Ideally I would like to stay as contactable as possible with this service but suspect the cost will be huge if I maintain my O2 services.

Would it make more monetary sense to get an alternative SIM in Thailand and will it work in the countries mentioned?

Any travellers been down this route?/suggestions?

I dont know of an all s.e.asia for rounder sim card wise, but personally I bought a new phone here (prices vary, but can get a cheap one) and keep my old UK phone and sim for poss emergencies as works in all countries. With the new phone i bought a cheap pre-paid sim card and top up when needed (I use 1-2-call as seems to have most reception).

When i went to Loas, the Thai sim did not work, but there is probably and international roaming one. Otherwise, if you intend to use your phone within each country you visit, maybe just buy a new sim for each country? They are not expensive, so may be the cheaper option.
