June 9, 200719 yr Its been 3 times now. I have an old Toyota Lite Ace Van. Its 21 years old. ITs a good reliable van(he touches wood). I bought it for under AUD$2000 and have spent close to that again on rego, brakes and other stuff. Its no Porsche thats for sure. But its is my van. I use it for work and the shopping etc etc. The wife uses its when i am not. So what annoys me is that you get some ######er who is willing to ###### around with your vehicle. The first time it happened i was not too fazed. They took ###### all except a couple of dollars that was lying around. I dont leave anything valuable in it. I dont live in a shitty area. I live a decent area in Sydney. A place called Randwick but virtually the border of Waverley. Anyway reported it to the cops. The next time nothing looked out of place except the door on the passenger side was unlocked. I check ALWAYS when i get out. Then the other night they have decided to go through the van again, Glovebox open and ashtray open. I think its just kids or junkies looking for loose change, But its got to the point that i will have to spend money on an alarm as a deterrent. ######ing bastards and i hope they die an unfortunate death. BTW the first time they got in they ######ed the lock on the door. It still locks but could be unlocked easy enough as they ######ed it the first. I dont want to buy another lock just for them to ###### that aswell. Sorry about this but i just had to have a rant. Its more annoying than anything else. Edited June 9, 200719 yr by Jockstar

June 9, 200719 yr Ah... Good to know our prisoners are still crims. Get out of there Jock! get out now!! Save yorself!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 9, 200719 yr Author They no longer do any damage when they get in. Its just the fact that anything thats in the glovebox or the box next to drivers seat. The contents end up on the floor or seat. Its an anoyance
June 9, 200719 yr Author Thing is the first time they got maybe 2 or 3 dollars(they left the 5c pieces) The next couple of times they got **** all. Hopefully they will gave up. I think its junkies or kids. The CD player i have is a face off so they cant nick that.
June 9, 200719 yr There is an easy fix of course (kayo has an answer for everything) Get rid of the van. No insurance, no repairs, no costs at all and no risk of breaking and entering. and more money to me a round with.
June 9, 200719 yr It really is annoying when your vehicle gets broken into! However, if you make sure theres nothing in it worth stealing, they'll get bored and break into some other car.
June 9, 200719 yr Author However, if you make sure theres nothing in it worth stealing, they'll get bored and break into some other car. You would think so. There is no money left in my car. No tools or anything of value that they could sell. Just ######ing pointless in my opinion.
June 9, 200719 yr Don't keep your stash of Fosters in that glovebox R... do you????? At least its only money, not beer.......I did not think there was that much crime down your way ?? Still as Kayo says I suppose its to be expected. Good Luck Mate...just leave the glovebox empty and the van unlocked ..and make sure you have fully comp in case they nick the bluddy thing. I hope that apart from this life is sweet for you both TP

June 9, 200719 yr Well, you could be in Canada. Vans are special tagets as the thieves think there are tools inside. One friend's car was broken into twice recently in an underground "security" garage. Jerks broke the driver's window to get in so they could steal $8 in change. The window cost $300 to replace. Insurance? Haha, you claim and they jack the rate up for you. Lose-lose situation. But, sorry about your van, JS. It reminds me of a NYC joke: Lady's car is always getting broken into, so she makes a sign saying :No cash, no radio, no CD player, no valuables" So they stole her tires. 5555 Edited June 9, 200719 yr by Jet Gorgon
June 9, 200719 yr Keep the normal contents of the glove box in a folder under the seat, leave the empty ashtray and glovebox open at night. Leaves less chance they might break in for something they believe may be in them if it's obvious it's empty.

A scot mate of mine in Sydney accidentally left a set of bagpipes on the back seat of his car - got up the next morning and discovered that some low life had broken in and left a second set of 'pipes CB

Never lock the doors & always leave a $1 coin in the console. That way your locks will never get fuc!ed & who's gonna steal Toyota Lite Ace anyway? Soundman.
June 11, 200719 yr Its been 3 times now. Apologies Jocky, I didn't know it was yours Good luck, hope all else is well. Moss
June 12, 200719 yr Randwick is not the clean piece of suburbia the real estate agents would have you believe. The trouble is that it is scateboard distance from some very dodgy parts of the inner city. Unfortunately as it is one of the older suburbs there is only parking on the street. So no relief there. You could try a Geof Fennech training sticker on the back, but that might attact some others to make comment . A Rabbito's members sticker might help, but most od the scum that break into cars are not that allert for those sort of things.
