Popular Post Bkk Brian
Not sure where ourworldindata are getting their figures from but for its last data point the 23rd Jan it is showing a case count of 10,860 whereas the official dashboard on the 23rd showed only 7,686 PCR positive tests carried out. Seems like we now have a range of different figures for Thailand along with the ATK tests. PCR test positive cases, total of 6,718 official new infections. 12 official covid deaths recorded. Popular Post ThailandRyan
The numbers for Thailand just are not adding up as far as I can see. Between the case numbers they list and other areas list its an abacus nightmare. GF told me a few ago, her salon where she works and also teaches has now been closed because of to many cases in the community. Here in the US, even with numbers as high as they are life is pretty normal. 1

Europe could be headed for pandemic 'endgame': WHO The Omicron variant has moved the Covid-19 pandemic into a new phase and could bring it to an end in Europe, the WHO Europe director said Sunday. "It's plausible that the region is moving towards a kind of pandemic endgame," Hans Kluge told AFP in an interview, adding that Omicron could infect 60 percent of Europeans by March. Once the current surge of Omicron sweeping across Europe subsides, "there will be for quite some weeks and months a global immunity, either thanks to the vaccine or because people have immunity due to the infection, and also lowering seasonality". https://news.yahoo.com/europe-could-headed-pandemic-endgame-185323297.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall&guccounter=1 1 2

Here in the US, even with numbers as high as they are life is pretty normal. They are managing to keep the numbers low by giving 'jail time' @ a government facility to anyone who receives a positive PCR test. (well in Chonburi province at least) . As is seems to be mostly mild, people are lying low at home. My wife's sister is currently wondering why she reported herself at the hospital for a PCR. She is now into her second week at a cheap hotel in Pattaya locked in her room, bored out of her mind. (Takes a lot for a Thai to get bored when they manage to sleep 23 hours a day!) Her symptoms (runny nose) are so mild she is not even being given any medicine. The rest of the family will not be making that mistake.

Girls school in Wang Saphung close coz so many cases in school. Even that school has been open before even almost all other schools has been open. Here in Finland still have many restriction's but they not isolate people anymore, even if one family member is infected others can move as they like.

Wuvu2
With death rate low and infection rate high the most informative graphic would be the daily number of hospitalizations. I'm not seeing that number in in English or any rolling average graphs. Anyone know if this info is available?

Stargeezr
Today, Jan 26 2022. In Thailand COVID deaths 22,057, Canada 32,000, USA, 894,000, deaths according to world o meter. World total of about 5.67 million. I am just glad that there is a vaccine to help us stay alive. I wonder how this virus compares with the Spanish flu of the early 1800s, for being fatal, like the first 3 variants. Still lots of people dying all over the world, but I guess the latest omicron variant is not killing as many, but it seems that a lot more children are now getting sick. It will be a nice day when COVID is a distant memory, that is for sure.
