Popular Post D M G
"I keep reading comments about Test and Go saying if test positive for Covid you can be forced into hospital for maybe b10,000 a day. Why?? Everywhere else it simply requires isolation." Is this just another "get the the tourist" charge? No insurance coverage as well?
Popular Post ubonjoe
If only showing minor symptoms it is possible to stay in a hotel for a self quarantine. There is a lot of false and misleading info going around about it. 4
HighPriority
If we’ve only learned 1 thing over the past 2 years it should be that in the absence of full information there’s a shyster on every street corner who wants to spread disinformation, lies and plain old bunkum for profit, notoriety or ????’s and giggles. Stopping it has to start with you and me. Edited February 11, 2022 by HighPriority
Swiss1960
Well, then AseanNow might have added to the rumors by posting an article that states: "Thailand’s Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) has issued new rules, which take effect on February 15th, limiting compensation claims by people infected with COVID-19. Patients who are symptomatic or who have mild symptoms being treated in hospital or in home isolation and are without doctor’s certificate stating the need for treatment in such facilities will not be covered by the medical care or compensation scheme." Pretty clear, that the government tries to bail out the insurance companies who are on the verge of bankruptcy. At the same time, people with positive tests in the Test and Go scheme are put in hospital isolation immediately, not matter how severe their symptoms. So now everybody MUST require a doctor certificate or otherwise REFUSE being put in quarantine, otherwise they have to pay everything themselves.

It of those in the country (mostly Thais) already that have insurance. This article is FULLY related to the topic title "no insurance coverage". There have been numerous reports that foreign tourists, who entered Thailand i.e. through Phuket Sandbox and used a (Thai) Covid insurance policy from the website of the Thai government, were DENIED payment for the forced treatment in hospitel or hospital quarantines. The limitation posted in the AseanNow article that I mentioned just gives the Thai insurance companies the legal framework for the rejection. Nowhere in the article does it mention Thai people, only Thai Covid insurances which many tourists did use, as their home insurance could not accommodate the requirements from Thaipass/COE. Did you read the limitations? I quote again: "for instance, he or she must have a fever of over 39 °C for more than 24 hours or their breathing rate is more than 25 times per minute or the oxygen content of their blood is lower than 94%." So in the eyes of the Thai government, for the sake of the Thai insurance companies, fever of 38.8 degrees is a minor symptom... every doctor would disagree, but hey, there seem to be not too many doctors at the top of the Thai health ministry... 5
aussiexpat
I met a guy yesterday who said he tested positive on arrival PCR on January 7 and was sent to hospital for 10 days costing 100,000 baht. He had AXA insurance and he said they paid the lot directly to the hospital. So stupid when he had no symptoms and they never did a 2nd test, just let him free on day 10

I have tried to find out what the real quarantine situation is. They said they decide on a case-by-case basis.
