Visa question

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have friend from Scotland who wishes to come to Thailand in July and to join his partner of 8yrs and live permanently here. He has been here many times before usually on VOA or tourist visa.

Money is not a problem for him, he only has a joint bank account with his partner at the moment.

He asked me what visa he should/could apply for so that he can come to Thailand and then marry his partner next January.

He is in his mid sixties.

He could obtain a tourist visa.

With a 30 day extension that gives him 3 months.

If he has all his ducks in a row he could marry then obtain a non O marriage followed by extension.

He should look at exactly what is required for marriage in Thailand.

He should also obtain bank account in his name only.

He could obtain a METV however would need to exit Thailand after 3 months and reenter. That depends on borders and requirements at that time.

Edit: did not see his age.

He can enter visa exempt and obtain non O retirement followed by extension.

Later he can change to extentions based on marriage.

This is his best option.
