DFA says it has assisted nearly 200 Filipinos to leave Ukraine

MANILA, Philippines (Corrected 6:18 p.m.) — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday said it has assisted 199 Filipinos in Ukraine to be evacuated to nearby countries, while nearly a third have been repatriated back to the Philippines.

 

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Arriola said in a Twitter post that as of March 8, 5 p.m., 63 Filipinos have arrived in Manila. Meanwhile, 73 Filipinos were evacuated to Romania, 33 to Moldova, 15 Filipinos were brought to Hungary, nine to Austria, and six have been evacuated to Poland.

 

Earlier today, 21 crew members of the stranded M/V S-Breeze docked at Ukrain’s Ilyichevsk Ship Yard were repatriated.
