Jomtien Beach, Pattaya-On Sunday, the 13th of March 2022, at Jomtien Beach, Pattaya mayor Mr. Sonthaya Khunpluem appointed his secretary Mr. Worapoj Pongpalee as a chairperson to preside over the closing ceremony and to award prizes to the winners of the Pattaya Water Sports competition 2022.

This event was held under the concept of public sports competition and was supported by the annual budget of 2022. Moreover, the closing ceremony was also attended by Mr. Pradit Thongchai, head of the development of the sports tourism department and his crew, along with the Windsurfing Association of Thailand, the Standing Up Paddling Board club, the Local Jet Ski and Speedboat club, the Pattaya Windsurfing club, and many Thai and international contestants.

The Office of Tourism and Sports has held this event with an intention to support and develop water sports in Pattaya to be widely known and for the city to truly live up to its name as “Sports City”.

I’m sure Pattaya was well known for “water sports” way before this. ????????????

Anybody else in Jomptien have any idea this was going on?

Sounds like a nice outdoor event.

Huh? What? Jomtien? Nope, didn't have a clue anything was happening.

I thought Soi 6 provides water sports 24/7 *365.

(Heard about it from a friend????.)

silly me, Pattaya, water sports.
what was i thinking?

One of my pet peeves about Thailand...  We usually heard of these events only after they were finished.

Was held opposite the Sunshine Cafe (Soi 7 ?) all i could see were surfboards being raced back into shore by guys stood on them with paddles

As usual any chance of having a quiet beer went out the window thanks to a shrill womans voice coming over the speakers commenting on the races...........akin to the long boat race commentators.................
