A complaint was lodged with police, in the Klong Luang district of Pathum Thani province yesterday (Sunday), concerning suspected cheating in a university entrance examination, after images of two GAT/PAT test papers were posted on the “Snapask” app.

Thammasat University’s Assoc. Prof. Chalie Charoenlarpnopparut, in his capacity as the manager of the Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS65), told Thai PBS that it is suspected that the cheater, used a pen type spy camera or a spy camera glasses to take snap shots of the mathematics and science exam papers and then wirelessly transmitted them to the Snapask app.

Snapask is an app, open to anyone, who has questions about their homework. Someone will then answer the questions for free or in exchange for some rewards.

Cheating has been a part of all types of examinations here in Thailand.  Isn't the first time and it won't be the last

Hmmm, I'm interested.

Female university students

Rewards ????

Academic cheating has become so aggressive and advanced.  It's a business now.  I wonder how long educational organizations will be able to give exams in the future.

Cheating in the Thasi education system s as endemic as giving the police a couple of hundred baht for jumping a red light. Maybe people can remember when a certain prime ministers son was caught cheating. The crux was not that he was cheating but was caught and that those who caught him, ousted him out.

Its like the childish losing face concept and deformation. It belongs in a previous century.

Well the Thai police can pass the entrance exam so how could they help

Some bright students failed when they inadvertently accessed snapcandy by mistake ????

Problem is that if they do find some bribery has gone on, it's just as likely they will ask for a bribe to put and end to the matter.

So unless the device used to send the snapshot can also receive and I've not heard of a pen or glasses that can do this [I could very well be wrong here, if so fair enough] or the exams are the same every year, what benefit did the sender gain?

Unless they had other devices for this I suppose but that would imply the invigilators were either utterly incompetent or in on the cheating...

Not sure they need to cheat. No one ever fails here. My 9yo learns Chinese and she's terrible at it. Obviously we're no help. Every term she passes though.

Yet, seems as some just becoming aware of this reality - for ages.

Pathetic.

Then what?

Is it suggested that someone on Snapask solved the questions in real-time, and then somehow transmitted the answers back to the test taker?

Or is this about using the same test/questions for years?
