Popular Post webfact
by Gregers Møller The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently announced that the Thailand Privilege Card has launched the Flexible Plus Programme, which is positioned at affluent foreign investors and aims to help stimulate the recovery of the Thai economy. In this press release, TAT states that The Royal Thai Government Gazette has published the announcement by the Ministry of Interior on the Flexible Plus Programme, which permits Thailand Privilege Cardholders to be granted a work permit under the Flexible Plus Programme. The Programme has been established to encourage foreign investment and to revive Thailand’s economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Thailand Privilege Card, said that as of the Cabinet resolution on 19 October 2021, the investment principle on the Flexible Plus Programme has been granted approval. The Programme offers privileges for Thailand Privilege Cardholders to work under the terms and conditions, thus aiming to urge foreign investors to invest in Thailand. Popular Post richard_smith237
The same old message…. ‘Give is your money’ is getting repetitive, it’s tasteless and insulting…. It highlights greed without any intelligent, innovative and forward thinking. If Thailand wants to improve foreign investment and bring in foreign money it needs to make those sectors in which foreigners may invest far more attractive than simply charging more…. It already had the ‘recipe’ to bring in foreign money with tourism, that also made competitive and attractive again.

I believe pretty much the same original article (from TAT press release) was published and already discussed on here on 10th March. I guess the web today is all about driving clicks and traffic and this is linking to a different site, which has decided to re-print the article. In fact, I can see in today’s ASEAN Now ‘news’ a large number of re-hashed stories from the past couple of weeks or so and limited new content. Perhaps the ASEAN Now news compiler could be a bit more discerning and avoid bombarding members with repeated versions of the same article ? News is meant to be well, ‘new’.

Bunch of clowns, that could not work anywhere else. Just imagine what upgrading from 2 million tourists to 40 million by dropping this immigration nonsense could do !

Allow us already here to also invest in certain asset classes as well as enjoying the same special interest rates Thai's are able to obtain on certain instruments. I tried today to do an online e-savings account through K-bank as well as sign up for a new insurance type of policy and I was denied because I am not a Thai national. This needs to stop. Elsewhere in this world as a Thai immigrant you can own property, invest in all asset classes and even own a business and work without any caveats, at least in the US this is possible. My now Ex-wife has bought herself a house and opened up a business and she is not a US citizen yet but just a permanent resident. We as expats can not even become permanent residents just classified as a long-term stayer....ridiculous. 2

Why anyone would invest .01c there I have no idea - I wouldn't buy a condo, nothing. But hey, it's only my opinion and to each their own. Let's face it - if you're white your price went up or down, dependent of if you're buying or selling - in that order.

Enzian
I'm happy to "invest" here in things unmentionable, but not nearly as unmentionable as the quality of the ideas that TAT comes up with.

Place is swarming with Thai people who actually are allowed to purchase property and own businesses without any restrictions. Now just imagine we treated them the same way Europeans are routinely treated in Thailand... it would prompt the Thai government to bitterly complain how "racist" and "unfair" it all is. 2
Popular Post simon43
Forgive me for being so stupid, but nowhere in their press release can I see any 'privilege' on offer...... A work permit? That's not a privilege, that's a legal paperwork requirement stipulated under Thai law for any foreigner who wishes to work in Thailand.
khunPer
As I understand the text, it says: If you are under 50 years old, and not married to a Thai, and wish to stay long time in the kingdom without being forced to work on a work permit to cover your living expenses, but rather enjoy Land of Smiles full time, then you and your foreign family have an outstanding chance here, if you pay 1 million baht for an Elite Card-membership and has equivalent to a million US-dollars - or the real stuff - laying to no use in a drawer...
