June 14, 200719 yr Hi all, My Gf has just been told that she will have to come for an Interview at the end of July. I am quite surprised as our documents are very good and we have adressed the main points. 1. Reason to come back to Thailand She is working for a medical company, has a letter from her employer on letter headed note paper, signed with a company stamp. 2. Able to support herself She has some savings and I have agreed to sponsor her and have included all the necessary docs. 3. Somewhere to stay. My parents have invited her, so we have an invitation letter with all the necessary docs. The only reason I can think that she has been asked for an interview is because she will be staying in the UK for 2 months and maybe they are wondering as to how she is allowed this much holiday with her company. What do you all think? What should she expect from the interview. We have plenty of time to prepare so we want to get everything perfect. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
June 14, 200719 yr Eamon, There maybe something that they are unsure of, there might be many reasons they want her to come in so all I can say is answer the questions truthfully and answer them in accordance to what you wrote on the application form. Also they will probably ask questions based on your supporting documents so make sure your gf knows what they said! Good luck Mark Ps. An interview is not a bad sign, they just want to clarify things, if your application was not up to scratch they would have rejected without an interview. Edited June 14, 200719 yr by markr
June 14, 200719 yr Eamon, In the course of the interview, the visa officer might try to test the genuineness of your relationship by establishing how much about you your girlfriend knows. You should therefore ensure as far as possible that she has a thorough knowledge of you, your family, and yopur circumstances in the U.K. Scouse.

My gf is quite clued up about me, my family and my circumstances in the UK, so I think we will be ok on that part. Do you think that the fact that we said on the application that she will be visiting for 2 months is what the cause of the interview may be? The 2 month visit correponds with the invitation letter from my parents, my sponsorship letter, her employment letter and the provisional flight itinerary. What kind of questions may they ask about this? I really appreciate your advice. Thanks Eamon
June 14, 200719 yr Without having had sight of the application, I'm afraid it's not really possible to say why the embassy wish to interview your girlfriend: there could be a multitude of reasons. However, if you're certain that the "i"s are dotted and the "t"s crossed, then your girlfriend should have nothing to fear. Scouse.

Thanks From my personal experience they always interview (used to anyway). They will ask her the most trivial questions to check out if your relationship is genuine eg. What is his favourite meal, how many sister does he have, what is his job etc, Thing is most people will cover the big things, and they know that, so they will catch out a phoney on the minor things. Confidence is the key - and dont get caught out lying. If she has any refusals on her passport get a new one. If someone has been refused on previous attempts its going to be hard, The way they see it is if one of th eir colleages has refused entry then they dont like to undermine their judjement.
