I'm looking for a condo in the areas of Phrom Pong, Thong Lor and Ekkamai but I'm wondering what's really the difference in terms of living between these 3 areas?

 

Which one would you choose and why?

They are located in different places.

You need money for Thong Lo....there if I had the money.

 

Smart restaurants, nightclubs....(English pub).......and more dentists than you can shake a stick at for some reason.

Yes, and then we have the most remarkable difference. Tong Lo have Chinese, Ekkamai have a bus station and Prom Pong have bars.

I live between Thong Lor and Ekkamai. There's no difference between all 3 apart from Thong Lor between slightly more expensive.

If I had the choice I would go for Soi 8 or Soi 11......nice bars and restaurants, soi 8 is a dead end, so no through traffic.......and, not that it interests me,.......soi 7 and soi 4 are only 5 min walks.

I stay out of thong lor completely. Don't need cop hassles. Actually, I'm not at all a fan of Sukhumvit (dislike all the farang, touristy bits) or the BTS.

 

I remember when ekamai was out there and on nut was the last stop at the end of the world. Sukhumvit 101 ...

Phrom Phong is the area immediately around Sukhumvit 39.

 

Thong Lo is the area immediately around Sukhumvit 55.

 

Ekkamai is the area immediately around Sukhumvit 63.

Keep going past Ekkamai and you hit Phra Khanong, the beating heart of "midtown Bangkok".  W District, J Bar, Summer Hill, PJ O'Briens......
