Household Bleach - How Much Per Cubic Metre in Water Tank?

I used to add a little Haiter bleach (6% available chlorine) to my 2,000 litre water tank and want to do it again, but I can't find a consistent ratio of bleach to water.

Here are what some sites quote, and they just don't work out to be the same:

  1/4 cup  in 15 gallons (1 gallon = 4.54 litres)
   40 cups in   2000 gallons (1 cup    = 237 ml)
    4 tsp in 50 gallons (1 tsp = 5 ml)
0.626 ml in      1 gallon
   25 oz in 10,000 gallons (1 oz = 30 ml)
  500 ml   in 10,000 litres

Can anyone say what they use?

I used to use 2 caps in my 1500l tank every 3-4 days.

Any specific reason you did so often?

Was there any lingering smell or that just became the norm?

I tried to match the turnover in the tank.  It seemed to work about right.  Now, most of our water is handled by village pressure so don't use the tank very much.

We use a couple of caps of Haiter (Blue) once every time in our rain water tanks! (Tank is 2500 Liter)

We only use it for showers / washing etc (not for drinking)

If I add too much I get comments from my wife "why does the water smell like bleach" ????
