Children aged under 4 are at high risk of developing serious symptoms, or of dying, if infected with COVID-19, because they are too young to be vaccinated, warned the Disease Control Department, as infections among the group have been on the rise.

Since the outbreak of the Omicron variant late last year, 27 toddlers have died, though the most of them had underlying diseases, said Head of the Epidemiology Division of Thailand’s Disease Control Department Chakkarat Pittayawonganon.

Babies under six months are most vulnerable and account for most of the severe cases and deaths. The death toll among 5-12 year-olds, however, is low, with only three deaths from Omicron variant infection, or under 0.01%, he added.

Everybody has a risk to die... young or old with or without a disease....It is a part of life. no dying no life....Indeed there are no vaccines yet for the very youngs one, but to make them a high risk group is a bit too much... as they wrote already themselves... they had underlying diseases...
