Police in Bang Khen in the northern Bangkok suburbs and Ruam Katanyu rescue services were called after a man set light to a woman at a condo building using gasoline.

Witnesses reported seeing Samrerng or "Lek", aged about 50, arrive on a motorcycle with a five liter can of gasoline.

He then covered a parked motorcycle with the fuel and moved to the room where his girlfriend lives.

Surattana, 44, answered the door and was then doused in gas and set alight. She fled for help out the back and was later assisted to Mongkut Wattana hospital.

The assailant strode out of the condo building and set light to the motorcycle he had earlier doused then fled the scene.

Neighbors said that the assailant and the woman had had an 'on again off again' relationship for the last few years and were always arguing.

The bike belonged to a neighbor who is a nice, chatty guy and who the assailant probably believed was having an affair with the woman, reported Thai Rath

Police are studying CCTV as they investigate the case.

  • These kind of things are revolting. Not often for an eye for an eye but when you douse someone with gasoline and set them alight. Then the guy deserves the same.

Where is the ' Mental issues ' comment , or am I too early ?

We all know you can really hate someone you once loved.   Strange.    Marriage….best day of my life.  Divorce….I’ve never hated someone so much!     I don’t drink, no drugs……clearer mind.    Covid stress, life stress, money stress, etc….can put people over the edge.   Going through with this?   Wow.  I think you can recover from almost all of life’s hurdles.   More information?  Unlikely.   Only a movie scenario would get us into his crazy mind and have us understand better.  Odds. Are there is no super crazy backstory.

No, you are not to early. Just that you failed to deliver your opinion, by being too busy asking others to do it.

Of course the guy must have mental issues. No sane person sets another alight.

I think it's more likely an "if I can't have her, no one will" situation.  Especially burning some other guy's bike.

Probably right.  it’s horrible and warrants the death penalty.

extreme violence against ex-spouses and girlfriends seems to be a common thing that happens here though - not sure it is all just mental health issues

I read news such as this and start believing some members society are sub-human and are not deserving of humane penalties.

We’ve always been taught ‘two wrongs don’t make a right’….

In cases such as this an ‘eye for an eye’ seems about right to me…

Those who behave worse than animals should be treated worse than animals.

To avoid the accusations of more Thai bashing comments this is all perfectly normal in LOS ????

I mean when you do something like this you damage an other person permanently. They have to live with the scars and fallout of something like that.

It just feels so wrong if the perpetrator gets off easy or with a few years of jail. Its just so low to do something like this. I seen a docu about stuff like this how the victims feel. Its just so bad.

Mental issues attributable to very low IQ issues.....there's a lot of it about.

Doing dumb, stupid s#it is a facet of low IQ…

Mental issues are something else, abuse of sorts (physical, emotional, substance) or genetic psychiatric disorders…

Or this is something as simple as ‘little prince syndrome’ - no one ever disciplined the evil little turd and he simple lacks the emotional tools to handle life.

I hope the woman is able to physically& psychologically recover…

I hope someone ends this poisonous oxygen thief.

"Aged about 50", but often in these cases, lived a life limited by  physical and mental confinement and squalor, with little by way of worldly experience.

Just another day in the civilized world ...

... choose wisely.

Never needed, but .... Owning firearms (in the USA) does give one the warm & fuzzy feeling of security.

Here ... I'm way more anti-social than in the past.

You'd think the time it took to think about it, go purchase the petrol, douse the scooter ... would be part of the 'cooling off' period where maybe thinking ... this might not be a good idea ... oh well.

Sucks being a chickie here, too many nutters.

Too early. And waiting for the Thai Apologist Brigade to tell us how these acts of unspeakable horror and violence happen everywhere with the same frequency for everyday trivialities.

..any country, any time of the night or day.

Another day, another one (probably dozens everyday never making news since it's so common). It's incessant and has been since...forever. Thai male toddlers of all ages murdering, maiming and carrying out all sorts of horrific vengeful acts against girlfriends, wives, family, friends, foes, and strangers because they just cannot cope with not getting their childish way. Throwing murderous tantrums because of their fragile and damaged egos.:post-4641-1156693976:

Cue the Thai apologists. 3...2...1...

I hope the woman is not hurt and can recover from this , bless her

They should teach Thai schoolboys how to get over a breakup like a man.

1. Meet up with your mates

2. Whine and complain about the breakup until they get bored and give you a slap

3. Find another girl

(In later life add copious amounts of beer after Step 2 then a night with 3 hookers, one or more who may be ladyboys).

Stalking, stabbing or burning your ex was never part of the recovery routine when I were a lad.

No you were the first.

Not jealousy, its psychopathy.

It's perfectly normal male behavior.

He cant be a Buddhist as that type of action is definitely well out of the teachings

Rich field for psychotherapy right there.
