The RBA are in a difficult position. Mortgage stress across the country is very high. https://www.mpamag.com/au/news/general/majority-of-australian-homeowners-face-mortgage-stress/489375 "More than half of Australian homeowners are grappling with mortgage stress, with research commissioned by Aussie revealing that 52.5% of them are allocating over half of their income to mortgage payments, and 16% are struggling to meet repayments due to rising interest rates." Raise rates, and they could collapse the Australian housing market Ponzi scheme. Lower rates, and inflation rises again. The inflation rate is already higher than what the RBA would like, and has been for quite a while. Whilst you may enjoy higher interest rates on your savings, just think about what happens to the AUD is the Australian housing market tanks. -

Thai Baht is ruining my retirement
I did. They still are 2-3 times more expensive than Thailand or Vietnam. Portugal may be the cheapest now. If you can't afford Thailand there isn't a place in EU. Mexico, Central and South America are same as SE Asia. Not better in general. So, suck it up in Th or Vn till you kick the bucket... -

I think there might be one other thing going on here. The Thai government is getting quite desperate for revenues. They are frantically looking everywhere for potential income (spelled tee aitch e ef tee) To @chiang mai's point, I suspect the potential tsunami of money that would like to escape China is also a concern. Not so much to protect Thai nationals, but to prevent an unsustainable inflation that could jeopardize their banking system. I suspect that the ghosts of the Tom Yum Kung crisis still haunt decision makers here. -

Any benefits in antibiotics
It's one of the most ridiculous ideas imaginable, antibiotics are only to be used in extreme circumstances, where nothing else is going to work. There are so many downsides to using antibiotics too often, one of them is that several classes of antibiotics are highly ototoxic, which can lead to permanent tinnitus, which is not something that you want to be cursed with. -

I still think marriage can work if there's a very high level of compatibility in many areas, and if it's an Asian woman who is comfortable manifesting the dignity within femininity, and likes to play the role of a woman, and enjoys her man being a real man. Otherwise it's just a big nasty mess. -

Thai Wife Issues in the UK
That's completely wrong, I am giving my woman expense money every month, so she can go out and eat, and buy clothes, buy a new bra, pay for some gas for the car, hang out with her friends, or buy a drink. She often brings home some fresh fruit. It's ridiculous to be dishing out 500 or 600 baht a day when I can just give her money every month to maintain her expenses. That is not a salary, that is just practical living. -
