Trouble started in Soi 16 Nakniwat in the Lad Prao area of Bangkok when a woman was observed driving erratically in a white Mercedes Benz at 10 pm last night.

She was going forward and reversing.

She then headed for the Lad Prao intersection where she hit a food delivery motorcyclist called Chaipanya, 31, who was taken to Paolo Memorial hospital with serious injuries.

The female driver continued onto Viphavadee Highway inbound where she stopped for some time then onto Soi Mitmaitree.

She was eventually persuaded to come out of her car by the Viphavadee police at 2.30 am.

She was named as Siriporn, 30.

There were documents indicating she was being treated for depression.

She was taken to a hospital for a drugs test and mental health evaluation.

She will face charges of negligent driving causing injury as well as fleeing the scene of an accident and not providing assistance at an accident.

Thai Rath reported that Siriporn is a former model for the men's magazine Maxim.

Giving herself time for the booze to wear off ?

Typical reaction to entitled "hi-so" , can almost hear "do you know who I am".

Money and position rule again it would seem., while the poor guy is in hospital.

Bet she would have had a very different experience in most western countries.

Failure to stop, PIT manoeuvre or stinger, window smashed, dragged from car, stretched out on the pavement, arrested, taken to the station for drug and alcohol tests, in court for multiple charges in a number of days.

But think of how much face would have been lost, or how much trouble the police would be in if she had powerful friends!  Amazing Thailand!

I wonder if you or the lady figured out where the drugs/alcohol might go. Out with her urine of course.

So if she remained locked in her car for 5 hours, where did all her urine go?

No I disagree. Driving as if you own the road and are entitled to do as you want on it is the answer. Give her a jail sentence then she will have plenty of time to think things over.

Hardly... its a 10 year old Merc worth about 600,000 baht...  Not exactly ‘do you know who I am material’.

The reversing and erratic driving seems like real mental issues - If she was on some medication (for her mental issues) she obviously should be driving at all.

Of course, she could have taken something else, or even been drinking which reacted with her medication etc.

Unless of course ‘mental health issues’ is the new ‘brake failure’....

With all of that said... my main take away from this story....

Charged with 'fleeing the scene of an accident’........ I have never read of that charge being levied at all in Thailand, I assumed it couldn’t have been law because so many people do it !!!...

By the way, the 'Benz' in the picture is an low priced early model C class so not so Hi-So there, and as for her refusal the get out of the car all the possibilities are on the table particularly if she has mental or emotional issues...

Then I trust that it would have been recovered and subjected to the usual tests.

until she has to come out for a wee, nearly 5 hours later

cannot hold it anymore and out she comes........ some things

They have no problem suffocating alleged drug dealers but they fall to pieces at the thought of getting a pretty who has just run someone over to get out of a car?

I find it interesting that motorbike drivers are permitted to drive anyway they like. Drive the wrong way down a street or against traffic on a one-way road. Pull out in front of a moving vehicle causing a driver to slam on their brakes. Drive with no helmet, no shoes, drunk. Drive and park on sidewalks. These motorbike drivers are a nuisance and are just asking to be hit by vehicles.

I think a brick through the side window might have speeded up the process.....UK style.

The woman driver was taken to hospital where she will be given a blood test . That is mandatory when there is a accident involved .

Meanwhile, blood samples were already available, 3 hours before she left the car.
Some good friends came and helped out.

5 hours, enough time to call some very influential people.

Or she was busy, chatting with "The Yellow Cow" hi-so boy and asking for guidance.

Why didn't the Police just smash the window open and drag her out of the car for disobeying a lawful command?
