Shanghai residents are booking their tickets right now .

No food in lockdown there, so they're hoping for mango&sticky-rice in October. - And the unique Thailand quarantine experience (arriving day 1, ushered off to Hospitel for days 1 to 10, quick boat-to-island-trip on day 11, before returning to China and more quarantine on day 12) ...

I don't think the Chinese can even leave their country right now.   And if they could, they aren't going to go visit a country where they have to apply for a visa through things like the Tha

Vichit Prakobgosol, vice president of the Tourism Council of Thailand, seems to have zero understanding of what is happening in China.

Anutin’s  latest decree delivers 2 Hopes on this .. and any other Tourist Industry aspiration to gain full recovery.

One of them is Bob Hope….

China will not change its tough entry quarantine rules that have been in force for a long time, anytime soon. Will there be Chinese tourists who will then accept 2 weeks of forced quarantine at the point of entry + 1 week of controlled home quarantine for a 7-10 day trip to Thailand? Also, the state forced quarantine accommodations in China are not cozy 5 star hotels that you can choose from. The 3 covit tests before entry plus 2-3 after entry are not cheap either. That someone does this voluntarily - 1 week vacation and 3 weeks in prison - is highly unlikely.

stop dreaming ..drop the stupid restrictions that you are all scamming from and get real tourist coming back its a load of Clap..to think Chinese are coming ....

I am actually looking forwards to them coming - looking forwards to all the thousands of ranting, angry condo buyers that bought condos next to Tops in Soi Khao Noi that is now just an abandoned building site turning to jungle for the past 3 years

TAT should read a bit of Scheinese news.

Vichit also projected that Thailand would regain 70% of its pre-pandemic tourist numbers next year and 100% by 2024.

Is this guy taking Anutin's new wonder crop?

Was it not last week, they spoke about the "travel bubble with India"?

Next week: TAT is expecting 100 Trillion visitors from Mongolia.

See, they’re already queuing up for the first zero dollar flight to LOS.

dont blame Vichit for this nonsense. When they spun the wheel at the Tourism Council, it stopped at chinese tourists, so he was obligated to talk about them.

it could just as easily stopped at high quality or indian tourists, or digital nomads, and he would have been talking about them as the impending solution to thailand's tourism woes.

My predication, and its only that is Chinese tourist is pretty much dead for at least another 12 months.

We were planning to visit a friend of mine this year in Shanghai, known him for 20 years from the days when I lived there.

Two things, basically we can't get in. Foreign inbound travel is essentially blocked.

Secondly as my friend says, they have crappy domestic vaccines which don't work so every time an outbreak happens they resort to draconian lockdowns, which he and his wife are currently experiencing in Pudong right now to try to enforce the 'zero covid' policy.

We video chatted yesterday, via a VPN of course since if he dared to say some of this stuff publicly he's be arrested.

They are struggling to get food and water delivered, and this is in the most prosperous city in China!

So yeah, the Chinese will be flocking back to save TAT!!!!

I’m not quite sure which I find more amusing, the TAT Chinese wish list or the comments that follow. Keep it up boys, it’s fun reading.

I guess nobody told TAT that millions are being camp forced to lockdown in Chinese cities 55555 … Bang goes  the 50 baht a day crowd “;0)

Whatever happened to the 7 Chinese billionaires on their private jets  that would have came and spent the equivalent of 20 000 000 dirty covid infested farngs, rescuing Thailand's tourism?

And those stupid hats were a free giveaway for the photo op ? ????

Too many WHEN or IF or WOULD for me..????

Hope Springs Eternal

Hope what they want but until they take away the testing and incarceration hope is all they'll have.

Hmmm…. More Chinese tourists…. Aren’t we the lucky ones?

China is not about to drop "dynamic zero" anytime soon, We're 54 days into a war of superpowers by proxy, the supply chains are back to square one, inflation is roaring and the global economy threatened.

There's an awful lot more "if then, but's" to go before reach the one about chinese bus loads of tourists.

How about encouraging Taiwanese tourists, during Golden Week instead? They don’t follow pendants, nor the CCP.

Hopes?
everything i read says they are not allowed out of China, so i guess hope is the operative word?

Thai Tourism Industry Hopes for More Chinese Travelers in October

A dream of the Thai tourism industry with no background of reality.

  1. The Cinese have still problems to fight the Covid by their own Chinese medication Sinovac. That has a low quality, about 10% of the Pfizer/Biontech. Now they recognize this mistake relying on their own vaccine. But changing this habit is a little bit too late and more expensive.

  2. Xi, the new emperor, does his best that the people of his homecountry stay isolated. Meeting people from other countries i.e, during their holiday in Thailand or elsewhere, will open their minds and eyes. A danger for him and the party. They fear  the influence of freedom.

  3. I'm not sure, but think I've read that even Chineses have to quarantane after returning. Much, much longer than in other countries. 3 weeks? Another giant hurdle for the Chinese tourists without earning any Yuan during this 3-week time.

  4. The economy will not return to the old days of 2019 and before. That's a reason not to spend some hard earned money on holidays in Thailand or other countries.

What happend to the marketing initiative to Saudi?

I can't see why they're hoping for more Chinese tourists, they don't spend much to start with & they just clog the place up.

I could be wrong of course, but I very much doubt it.

Who is we? You live in the sticks and you are not Thai and don't relay on money coming in from Chinese tourists but Thais do

He learned nothing in the past 2 years. He watched too much CCTV/CGTV/Xinhua propaganda. I wait new headline of TAT begging for Chinese tourist for Chinese New Year 2023 by September...Of course there will be multiple cries for tourists from India, Saudi Arabia and Iran in between.

Looks like Chinese operated Cambodia Call Centers are in need for Mandarin speaking scammers badly. Or are they the gamblers heading for the Chinese owned Casino by the port?
