my wife and i ane both Australian citizens, we are both over 65 yrs. old. we have been living in Thailand for the past 2 yrs. we have multiple entry non immigrant o visas and we are due to return to Australia in August to apply for our 3rd. multiple entry non immigrant o visa. we dont mind the trip over the border every 90 days,ourjoint income is just below 60000 bht, a month. my quiries are. 1 do we have to return to Australia once a year to obtain the multiple entry visa. 2 is there any chance of us recieving a retirement visa, and if so what advantage ,if any ,would a retirment visa have over the multiple entry visa...last year a multiple entry visa cost us $250 Au each. hoping you can advise

Extensions of stay costs 1,900 baht per year (each) and cost of bank letter (200 baht) plus Embassy letter (not sure what OZ charges). You would need to have person with higher income apply for retirement and spouse apply for extension on that once approved. Financial s are 65k per month income so the person requesting retirement extension should have the shortfall of the 65k in a bank account in there name only and for the 3 months prior to extension of stay application that account should be above the required amount. So if higher earner makes 40k per month in pensions they will have to have about 12x25k=300k in a Thai located bank account for the 3 months prior to application. The other person needs no income proof as they will apply as spouse.

The advantage is you do not have to make visa runs every 90 days or leave country to renew.

Also if they had 800k to show in the thai account,that would surfice,if could afford to do that of course...
