The Ministry of Public Health anticipates that COVID-19 infections in Thailand will be on a decline by the end of this month or in early June, which will enable it to propose further easing of restrictions, including the downgrading of the COVID Alert to Level 2, according to Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

On May 9th, the Public Health Ministry decided to lower the Level from 4 to 3, after the pandemic situation had improvedsignificantly.

Alert Level 2 means people can resume life almost as normal, with most restrictions removed, but are still advised to avoid congested areas and closed venues with poor ventilation. Mass gatherings would be permissible, depending on the decisions of authorities based on the COVID-19 situation in each area.

Since Prayut is in States, he should able to see the real world from his own eyes and without mask.

Not so sure if the United States are such a good model. The number of their cases is quite high (according to John Hopkins University and WHO)

Looking forward to Level -4; no nothing and the usual traffic jams on Thailand's road ????

Good comment. I definitely see a smile in their eyes.  When Thais, or anyone, are giving you a real smile or a real laugh.  A true smile is always revealed by the eyes and surrounding muscles even if you can see their face smiling.  Or even a real thumbs up.

Prayut sees what he wants to see, and his vision of Thailand is somewhat different to what we want.

Perhaps it is just me.  I can not tell if a woman is cute or not with a mask on.

Except we have the 608 group excluded.  Which includes a lot of us.

Please move away from no of cases now since we have both preventive measures(vaccination) and therapeutics (paxlovid). What matters is hospitalization(ICU/Ventilator) and no of deaths. I am sure if there is a real testing in Thailand we will find far more numbers but then again No doesnt matter as much as they were in 2020.

I dread to think what the world looks like through his eyes, 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' comes to mind. General Tu Tu's lonely heart club band.

Oh for sure. I got used to that during my many years in the middle east. But it's not quite the same as a full on smile is it.

They may do this they may do they.

They possibly might propose this and they possibly might propose that.

Just do it!

Be Alert, your Country needs Lerts.

Get rid of those stupid cloth masks, and allow all nightlife to re-open. Let's get things back to normal, finally. Especially masking outdoors, which is insane, beyond any science, and nothing but fear of the Zombie Apocalypse.

It is high like all countries that have had the capacity to test truly and have been transparent with their numbers. Thailand has done neither. When you bring face into it, things get skewed.

For sure! This whole charade has stifled Thais and made them more controlled and miserable. The smile is very important here; there are many of them. The eyes aren’t enough for quickly ascertaining intention.

Better than the uk

When there is no longer a medical reason for restrictions just open up, but the fear and control is addictive china has taken it to new levels.

The west is open not just the US masks gone inflight

13 different smiles according to Tom Touhy in his book, 'Watching the Thais' and they're used constantly in their communications with one another. Well, used to be! It's all very sad.

Thank goodness we live in a small village where we don't take mask wearing so seriously. Even the Phu Yai Ban doesn't bother and he just happens to be my wife's nephew. ????

@Destiny1990 they'll never have a level for that. here to stay for a long while yet.

Back in my home country for 2 weeks now, after 5 years absence. No one is talking about Covid here anymore, all restrictions have been lifted. In July we're going back to Thailand. I hope by then the Thais will have understood that Covid is over. I'm afraid it will take a little longer though ????
