Just to let you know I haven't been banned, but taking an extended ( voluntary for a change ) holiday.

It's been an experience for the past 16 years or so, but sometimes the abuse gets a bit much, so time for a break, and maybe come back after a while.

 

Just sayin' that the forces of darkness didn't win, and remember what Nixon said on his departure.

Don't think too much. You are somewhat synonymous with Asean Now as a regular poster along with a handful of others. I think your honest posts are liked by most.

It's hard to reconcile the 'pub' posts and the posts where you seem to support some authoritarian non democratic types but that's often the strange thing about Asean now. People's attitudes to personal issues can seem at odds with how they see the wider world.

The first time I read a TV post was just over nine years ago.

 

Therefore, you have been here not much longer than I.

 

Yet, you have obviously been far more dedicated to keeping this forum alive, than I.

 

And so, regarding your tentative au revivor swan song...

As you will recall, during the Nixon years, there were always those who wished to bail out, and jump ship.

 

However, rarely were their resignations accepted.

 

It was always stated that these workers, diplomats, and bureaucrats, had a duty to their country, especially while fighting the Vietnam war.

 

And now, here we find ourselves in much the same situation.

 

We do not wish to lose even one good man.

We cannot afford such a loss.

 

Therefore, you must reconsider.

 

Taking a break is reasonable and logical.

 

Hopefully, you will take a nice vacation, recharge your batteries, and then rejoin our flock.

 

Where would we be without this forum, really?

Actually, have you not noticed. It is not possible to resign from the forum? At least I have yet find a button which says 'cancel my profile. (or some such) And yes, I have looked several times!

Most likely, there is no need for such a button.

I tried that but I soon encountered a problem. If you come and visit as a guest, all those irritating people who you've put onto your 'ignore user' list suddenly come back to life again!

Don't worry you won't be missed - Most members were not aware of your existence and anyway there are many forums with well informed,  erudite,  broad minded people where you can discuss numerous  subjects.

Have enjoyed your posts for many years. Will miss you.

Yes. Reminds me of someone that fakes their own death and then spies on the funeral to see who attends and what they say. 

Like your posts. Always knew I was getting an authentic self and not a projected avatar so many people/posters put out to the world.
