CRUNCHER
Does anyone have any recent experience of obtaining a IDP at Banglamung Land Transport Office (LTO)? Google throws up only confusion. In particular:- Can I even get an IDP at Banglamung LTO? One site tells be I need to go to Chonburi. Are any forms required in English or do I need to take someone who can read Thai? What documents do I need to take e.g. Residence Certificate from Immigration? How many photos and what size etc.? Any special hassles I need to prepare for? Thanks for any advice to avoid multiple trips to the LTO
FriendlyFarang
I don't know where exactly you have to go, but here are the official requirements, Google translate is your friend: https://www.dlt.go.th/th/driving-license/view.php?_did=90 You should check if you need the 1949 or the 1968 one, some countries recognize only one of them, some both. samui99
I dont know Chonburi, but only the main DLT offices issue them. In Hua Hin you have to go to Prachuap to get one. Did it in March. Letter of residence from Immigration 2 x Photos 505 THB Assume take your Thai licence, I just showed my expired IDP They last 3 years now
soisanuk
The Banglamung LTO does not issue IDPs. You will need to go to Chonburi LTO to get one. The Pattaya City Expats Club has a webpage providing information about obtaining an IDP at the Chonburi LTO including documents needed - https://pcec.club/Thailand-IDP

brianthainess
Again it may depend on where you intend to drive, I have read on here a Thai licence can be used in the UK.

Yes it can legally, but the problem I had in the past was some hire car companies would not accept it without an IDP. I had to shop around. I hoped if I could easily get an IDP I could save myself some hassle. Thanks to all those who have taken the trouble to reply.

Check with your country whether it is accepted. Edited May 22, 2022 by KhunBENQ
