At 7pm on 17th June Banglamung Police Station was informed by Klongtan Station Police in Bangkok that a lady boy phoned the station and confessed that he had murdered an engineer at San

Dynamo car repair shop located on Sukhumvit Road, Naklua.

After getting the information the Banglamung Police quickly informed the Sawang Boriboon to ask for assistance and rushed to the location.

On arrival they found the place to be a 3 storey building. In the bathroom of the 1st floor they found the body of Mr. Wasan Khamwilai, aged 45, wrapped up in bed sheets and plastic and his neck was tied with a side-pillow sheet. He had been hit on the head with something hard and strangled.

The doctor said that he must have died about 13 hours ago.

Later, reporters called to interview Police Sub-Lieutenant Thawit Thuengchan of Klongtan Police Station in Bangkok. He stated that earlier he received a telephone call asking for police assistance at Marble Place located in Soi Onnut 17.

When officers arrived they met Miss Khanittha Chortham, aged 42, together with the lady boy, Mr. Saran Panket, aged 38.

Saran told the officers that he was hired by Miss Khanittha to kill Mr. Wasan.

Saran stated that she took him to stay at the place of the incident, and then they planned the killing.

On 16th June Miss Khanittha deliberately started an argument with her husband Mr. Wasan and then left to stay in Bangkok with her mother in Onnut Soi 17.

Later that night Saran sneaked into the repair shop and murdered the man by first hitting him on the head with a thick plank and then dragged him into the bathroom and suffocating him with a long pillow case.

As for the reason Miss Khanittha ordered his death; Saran stated that she told him it was because her newly wedded husband of 2 months Wasan would always get drunk and hit her and she couldn’t stand it anymore.

After the murder, Saran drove to Bangkok with the dead man’s Ford car to see Khanittha, but then in remorse and guilt he confessed his crime to the police.

Khanittha is denying all charges and more questioning must be made to get to the bottom of this story.

He had been hit on the head with something hard and strangled.

/quote]

Something hard and round, something hard and flat, something hard and cold, something hard and greasy - all are understandable.

But something hard and strangled?

Or had he been hit on the head with something hard and than strangled? Sounds like a Bob Woolmer episode to me.

Khun Khanittha is married to khun Waran for two months. In that time he gets drunk and beats her up to the extent that she hires somebody to murder him. She has a staged arguement with him and runs off to Bangkok while the hired killer does the dirty deed. He then drives to Bangkok to see Khanittha but suffers a major attack of remorse and turns himself, and khun Khanittha, in. The dutiful wife, no doubt in floods of tears, denies ever arranging the hit.

A plot worthy of any of the Thai soaps.

1. What's the betting she arranged it but balked at the payment stage?

2. How long before PC Plodphrasop writes it off as another suicide?

Slightly different version of events in the Pattaya City News.

Police in Bangkok contacted Banglamung officers on Sunday night and instructed them to go to a shop in Naklua where they were assured they would find the body of the 45 year old Thai owner of the business.

Breaking into the building, Banglamung police and Sawang Boriboon Rescue Volunteers found the body in question in the bathroom at the rear of the shop wrapped in clear plastic and with hands tied by cable. He had a deep abrasion to the back of his head.

The victim had allegedly been murdered the previous day by his 44 year old wife aided by her 28-year-old lady boy friend. The pair had then fled to Bangkok where the wife went to police and attempted to have her ladyboy friend arrested for the murder.

Bangkok police doubted the wife was telling the whole truth and under intensive interrogation she finally admitted she had aided in her husband’s untimely demise. Her reason, naturally, was money. Her husband was quite well off financially and she didn’t want just half, she wanted the whole lot.

The wife and her accomplice will be extradited to Pattaya in coming days to face murder charges.

Money, the root of all evil today.

Wrong, LACK of money is the root of evil.

I think the origonal saying was:

The love of money is the root of evil.

Just as appropriate now as when it was first uttered.
