Sri Racha, Chonburi — A 56-year-old woman was arrested and jailed for one day by Sri Racha police for possessing one cannabis plant, allegedly for medical purposes. Her 55-year-old husband reportedly needed to borrow money to bail her out.

Yesterday, May 30th, a 55-year-old husband, Chu Prakobphol, reached out to the local media about his 56-year-old wife, Pornpimon Prakobphol, who was reportedly arrested at their rental room in the Bang Phra sub-district, Sri Racha, Chonburi, for possessing one cannabis plant. Chu said that he was working outside when Sri Racha police arrested her and took her to the police station with the plant.

Chu reportedly admitted to planting the cannabis plant for medical purposes, but the police didn’t believe him and instead told him to bail his wife out.

Its legal, its not legal...its legal to grow but not make extracts. The woman wasn't even caught using it but busted because they "thought" she was going to use it illegally and didn't believe her story. Does this stuff ever fly if it gets to court?

It is grown in the jungle by government employees and they deliver. Baileys Coffee and blueberry every morning.????

The Police will be salivating at the amount of tourists and hangers-on they will be able to extort who will be under the mistaken impression ganja will be legal for recreational use.

Not even considering the amount of people that will grow plants at home for whatever reason.

It's a total joke as usual from these uneducated muppets.

The Thai police arrested a 56 years old woman who possessed 1 cannabis plant exhibiting, as usual, their astonishing bravery,  competence and intelligence.

So it was a "thought" crime and I thought 1984 was fiction? LOL

I thought Anutin had offered to pay bail for anyone arrested for growing Ganja.

Anutin has promised to defend anyone growing Marijuana....  Let us see if he’s good for his word !!.. (I won’t hold my breath).

This is one of the annoying facets of Thailand - the outrageous sanctimony shown by the police against those unable or without the funds to defend themselves properly.

I suspect it isn't designed to fly in court, only to get payoffs and bribes and to intimidate the serfs. Business as usual in Siam.
