Smoothsailing1
I was looking for a cross Asia section of the board where I could ask about multiple countries. My question is about how other countries in the region compare to Thailand for any ongoing Covid restrictions and easy of entry on a visa? I want to come for a month, or perhaps a few months. I am interested in countries that already dropped Covid restrictions; masks, tests, etc. How are other countries doing compared to Thailand?
Tracyb
You may have to google info about each country you’re interested in visiting.
daveAustin
Not all countries but this site (experiencetravelgroup) has SEA covered. Not sure about this though: “Is Thailand Open for tourism? Yes, it is, and the rules are now among the most straightforward in Southeast Asia.”

I now live in Cambodia and it is so easy and far less bureaucratic to enter the country compared to Thailand. All you need to show at border on arrival by air, sea or land is documentary proof of being fully vaccinated (minimum 2 vaccinations) . Visas available on entry at border. Alternatively, E-visa can be organized prior to travel date. No insurance or financial requirements. No entry Covid tests and quarantine (unless unvaccinated). Once inside: The wearing of facemasks no longer mandatory. It is "up to you". (I now go out mask-less). Your hotel/guesthouse/landlord/house owner is required to register you on FPCS (Foreigners Present in Cambodia System) - the onus is on them and not you. Restaurants, bars, nightclubs, beer gardens, karaoke lounges, casinos etc. all open with NO restrictions on alcohol sales and closure times. (except this coming June 4 and 5 for local elections). No rapid tests to enter a festival site. Recent photo taken at the new Angkor Botanical Garden in Siem Reap which was officially opened last month - not many masks! https://www.khmertimeskh.com/category/national/ 7
daveAustin
Good to know, thanks for that Bill. May pop over soon. Thailand can learn from Cam, although the powers that be (sigh) don't really want it easy like before do they!
Xiao
Vietnam has stopped all Covid restrictions from 15 May. They don't check anything.

Heng
South Korea is still very Thailand Pass-esque. Japan is still essentially shut but they are 'allowing' East Germany style group tours (you cannot leave the tour or else). Mongolia is open.
