US INL helps Isaan to fight illegal trafficking

In the past several years, the Greater Mekong Sub-region has seen increasing illegal trafficking activities, especially drugs, which are often transferred via natural routes, with production shifting from Myanmar to the Lao PDR as the criminals try to change their routes.

The Lao PDR has come a long way, from a land-locked nation to a land-linked hub. Since last December, with a high-speed train linking Southern China to Vientiane up and running, the potential of its future economic development has become unfathomable.

Fishermen to petition against catching of inedible, immature fish

A group of small-scale fishermen, from 23 provinces, arrived in the estuary of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok today (Monday), after a voyage of over 10 days from the southern province of Pattani, as part of their campaign to end to the destructive catching of inedible and immature fish which, they claim, will wipe out fish stocks in the Thai waters.

Inflation surpasses forecast for May, rising 7.10% y-o-y, highest in 13 years

Thailand’s headline consumer price index (CPI) surged more than expected in May, rising by 7.10 per cent from a year earlier, due to higher energy prices, the Commerce Ministry said on Monday.

Walk-in vaccination services launched at all of Thailand’s sub-district hospitals

In an attempt to get about 16 million people their booster COVID-19 vaccine shots, sub-district (Tambon) health promotion hospitals will provide free walk-in vaccination services to members of the public and will arrange for staff to conduct group vaccinations at factories and offices where many people want to be inoculated.

Thailand’s diesel price to rise by another baht per litre from Tuesday

The Fuel Fund Executive Board decided to increase the price of diesel fuel by another baht today (Monday), to 33.94 baht per litre, effective tomorrow, following a spike in global prices, due to worries of disruption in supplies from Russia and ease of lockdown in Shanghai.

Opposition to call for censure debate against PM, selected ministers in mid-June

Opposition parties will submit a motion to the House of Representatives on June 15th seeking a no-confidence debate against Prime Minister Chan-o-cha and a number of other ministers, opposition chief whip Suthin Klangsang said today (Monday) after chairing a meeting of opposition whips.

Thai Prime Minister arrives in Phuket, visits school to support educational programs

Thailand to consider increasing digital lottery ticket sales following success

The Government Lottery Office (GLO) will consider whether to increase digital lottery ticket sales after all 5.27 million were snapped up in four days and six hours, after the launch of the service via “Pao Tang” platform last Thursday.
