The Iranian embassy in Bangkok has denounced what it said were baseless allegations made by a report in the Bangkok post in which police were told to be on the lookout for Iranian spies. An Embassy statement said no Thai political or security officials have confirmed the claim.

 

Three foreign nationals were charged yesterday with recklessness causing the death of a woman who fell from a high rise condominium in Phuket last month. American Smith Ant-waun aged 38,  Ahmad Ala-toom, 28 from Jordan, and Russian Natalia Kosenkova, told police the woman was very drunk when she climbed an outside staircase then plunged to her death. The case is still under investigation.

 

Bangkok's new governor aims to achieve what no one else has been able to do, that's tackle the traffic problem in Bangkok, his plan is to introduce an intelligent traffic management system by next summer.

 

Police have seized more than 200 kilos of methamphetamine pills that were packed and hidden in a statue that was due to be shipped to Taiwan. Officers raided a shipping company in Si Racha Chonburi following investigations with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand.

 

A hospital in Phuket held a press conference yesterday after a new born baby suffered a broken arm while in hospital care. Doctors said it appears the baby’s arm was broken on the day of her birth, last Sunday. 

Investigations continue.

 

St Andrews International school in Bangkok has been ordered to demolish several facilities allegedly built beside the school on government land without permission. Bangkok authorities say there has been little to no communication with the school, which did say it would issue a statement shortly.

More than 230  rights groups called for the resignation of UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet, charging that she "whitewashed" Beijing's "atrocities" during her trip to China last month.

 

China will offer it’s citizens up to US$15,000 dollars or 100 thousand RMB in cash for reporting threats to "national security". Beijing has also begun teaching children to be on the lookout for supposed threats to the country.
