BANGKOK, June 9 (TNA) – The Energy Ministry and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) activated the “Sensor for All” network of air quality sensors at about 1,200 locations nationwide to check air quality in real time and support proactive solutions to air pollution.

EGAT governor Boonyanit Wongrukmit said EGAT already installed air quality sensors at 500 locations nationwide and also exchanged air quality data with the Pollution Control Department via the Air4Thai app and with Chiang Mai University through the Dustboy app.

The “Sensor for All” networking created a pool of air quality data from about 1,200 locations throughout the country.

I wonder how much each unit costs in reality and how much they were purchased for. There's a sensor near me which showed 16 every day all day.

But we know Thai air is polluted and carcinogenic - what steps are being taken to reduce this?  More cops pulling black-smoking vehicles off the road?  More cops descending on fields blazing with crop burn?

Why should the result be any different than what occurred wrt surveillance cameras which are mostly not functional, particularly when needed!

It is believed that indiscriminate burning of anything whatsoever may be a contributing factor of bad air quality.

You can have all the sensors you want, but useless if governors don't fix diddly squat.

As per usual, they will “monitor” the situation, and then do absolutely nothing about it. Same old, same old. Sigh.

I spot at least five vehicles blowing out black smoke, in illegal quantities, during my daily trip of 20Km. Why do the police not spot them and order the vehicles off the road until they satisfy the law?
Like so many things in Thailand, the laws are adequate/good but there is almost zero enforcement.
it seems that the most important thing in a Thai policeman's life is to enrich himself.

It is. The RTP are basically a legal mafia.
