Golf - The PGA Tour has suspended all its members who are playing in this week's Saudi-funded LIV Golf Invitational. The tournament, being held at Centurion Club near London, is the most lucrative in the history of the game with a $25m  prize fund. Six-time major winner Phil Mickelson is among the biggest names to be affected.

Football - Spain have won their first Nations league match beating Switzerland 1-0. Portugal defeated the Czech Republic 2-0 and there were also wins for Serbia, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, and Kosovo who beat Northern Ireland 3-2 with the Irish side now going 13 games without a win in the competition.

Gennaro Gattuso has been appointed Valencia manager on a two-year deal. The Italian 44-year-old has been without a club since May 2021 when he left Napoli, with whom he won the Coppa Italia the previous year.  Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette has re-signed for Lyon on a free transfer - five years after leaving to join the Gunners for a then club record of nearly 50 m Euros.
