Football - In  last night's Nations League action Spain saw off the Czech Republic  in Malaga to move into top spot in Nations League Group A2,  2-0 they won. Haris Seferovic scored the fastest goal in the tournament's short history to give Switzerland a 1-0 victory over Portugal, he scored after 55 seconds. Erling Haaland continued his prolific international form with two goals as Norway beat Sweden 3-2. There were also wins for Greece, North Macedonia and Malta.

 

Coach Mauricio Pochettino is to leave Paris St-Germain following talks with the club at the end of last week. PSG are still to make a formal announcement but it is understood the former Tottenham manager will not serve the final year of his contract.

 

F1 - Max Verstappen won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and took control of the World Championship after an engine failure on Charles Leclerc's Ferrari.  Verstappen led team-mate Sergio Perez to a Red Bull one-two, as George Russell took third for Mercedes, with team-mate Lewis Hamilton finishing fourth.

 

Cricket - Centuries from Joe Root  who is 163 not out and Ollie Pope who scored 145 kept England in the second Test with New Zealand on the third day at Trent Bridge Nottingham UK. New Zealand scored 553. England in reply are 473 - 5 off 114 overs.
