Biden’s age would be ‘major issue’ if he runs again, former Obama adviser says

Former senior Obama adviser David Axelrod warned that President Biden’s age could be a “major issue” in the 2024 presidential election. 

 

“The presidency is a monstrously taxing job and the stark reality is the president would be closer to 90 than 80 at the end of a second term, and that would be a major issue,” Axelrod told The New York Times of 79-year-old Biden. 

 

“He looks his age and isn’t as agile in front of a camera as he once was, and this has fed a narrative about competence that isn’t rooted in reality,” he added.

Axelrod, a buffoon who climbed up to "adviser" position under Obama and has been riding on that connection ever since.  Famous on CNN for always stating, in an interminable mumble, example after example of the bleeding obvious.

I seem to recall that he even conned the UK Labour Party into hiring him into some kind of tiresome advisory role.

If Biden depends on Axelrod for advice, he is in even greater trouble than he obviously already is.....

I think the best hope for Biden IF he runs again is if his opponent is Trump.

To significant numbers of Americans another Trump term would signal the USA becoming full on fascist. So the motivating power of anyone but Trump would be strong

Objectively a mixed record but no doubt inflation particularly gas prices is killing him. Partly his fault, partly the Feds fault, partly just very bad luck.

I have a contrarian view that Trump will be sent to prison and Biden won't run again. 

 

That would mean an open democratic primary.

 

So the democrats need someone younger, dynamic, and appealing to.white suburban women voters.

I would not vote again for Biden if he ran again. Not because of his age.  I just don’t think so far he is doing a great job.  But it’s personal preference.  Some people might think he is. That is why you have the right to vote.  I would look at the other choice in 2024 if he ran again . 
But if Trump was the other choice, then I would vote for Biden again. 
And some people criticize Biden because of his age.  Trump is not a young man either.

Sure. No one would really vote for Biden at his age if there was an alternative. But if you have a choice between 4 years of Trump along with the possibility of loss of the Republic to a dictatorship and Biden, you take the lesser of the two evils.

What it says more than anything else is that there is something very wrong about the system of politics in the USA right now where the choice was between Trump and Biden (and could well be that again in two years time!). Really. America? Is that all ye got?

Also he has been majorly blocked by fellow "democrat" Joe Manchin.

Personally I think his performance has been objectively mixed but he doesn't get credit for that because of inflation and poor white house communication.

Biden was largely elected by his party's stance on oil and gas. His reforms have been heavily curtailed by the GOP in the senate plus the corrupt Manchin.
