Issue: Visa Exempt to Non O Retirement

Featured Replies

Anyone had success moving from visa exempt to Non O retirement using the combined income + bank balance method

That method is allowed by item 7 of items 5,6,7 on the list at

https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?page_id=2537

And then

https://www.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/9.FOR-RETIREMENT-PURPOSES-50-YEARS-OLD-NON-O.pdf

and my small local office has variations of items 5,6,7 on “their list” but they only want 800k

I tried, crashed & burned with 900k transfers to Thailand in last 12 months – 7 of those months more than 65k and bank balance now over 400k

Any members succeeded this transition to Non O using the combination method?

Asking before I consider appealing (in the short time remaining – 8 days)

What is your nationality? If you cannot get an embassy letter confirming your income, it seems very difficult to use the combination method to apply for a Non O visa for retirement at Immigration. The policy at your local office is typical.

Thanks BritTim

Yes from a country with a useless embassy

I get it now:

Encourage visa exempt, make 800k in bank effectively the only transition to Non O

That will catch a good % of those entries and kachung for “agents”

Someone must have helped them develop this clever scam in their TM87 requirements

Can't believe the negativity.

Many countries don't even offer visa exempt entry.

As for options for retirement, again Thailand has options.

IMO would be more simple if they did away with combo method and even income method.

Stick 800k in a Thai bank and keep it there.

No agent required simple annual process. Happy days.

Hells Bells the married guys only need 400k in bank for approx 3 months of the year.
