Football - Ryan Giggs has resigned as Wales manager "with immediate effect". The former Manchester United winger who is 48, stepped away from his role in November 2020 after being arrested. Giggs was later charged with using controlling behaviour and assaulting his ex-girlfriend, charges he has denied. Robert Page took over as  Wales boss, leading them to their first World Cup finals since 1958.


Former Cameroon forward Samuel Eto'o has pleaded guilty to a 3.7m Euro tax fraud relating to his image rights while playing for Barcelona.The four-time African footballer of the year was given a 22-month suspended prison sentence when he appeared at court in Spain yesterday. He must repay the money he owes, along with a fine of 1.8m Euros. English Premier League side.

 

West Ham United have completed the signing of Morocco defender Nayef Aguerd from French  Ligue 1 side Rennes for £30m. The club have confirmed that the 26-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Hammers.

 

Athletics - World Athletics president Lord Coe has hinted the sport could follow swimming in banning transgender women from elite female competitions, insisting "fairness is non-negotiable".

 

Swimming's world governing body Fina voted on Sunday to stop trans athletes from competing in women's elite races if they have gone through any part of the process of male puberty.  Lord Coe has now revealed that World Athletics is set to discuss adopting a new policy, and welcomed Fina's move.
