Myanmar has Migs? I didn’t know they had upgraded from the Gypsy Moth.

Myanmar has Mig's

Myanmar has Submarines

Myanmar has a larger Army then Thailand....

Looking at Thailand's neighbors---Lao's communist - Cambo -owned by China--Malaysia Muslim border insurgence for years

Myanmar-probably the most unstable country in Asia. -Indonesia--largest Muslim country in the world.

NO ONE IS SAYING THEIR GOING TO BE INVADED--but Maybe its not that laughable, when Thailand announce they want to buy a Helicopter , tanks or a Sub.

What is the rank of Myanmar Army in the world?

With half a million soldiers, at least on paper, Myanmar has the world's 38th strongest military,

according to Global Fire Power, which ranks 140 nations on their capability to wage war.

So Burma has a lot of m29's an many subs. a larger army, does it mean Thailand should buy the F-35's? Your damn right it does . But don't get a loan from China as they will own us.

The Mig 29 is a formable fighter vs F-16 in a "one circle engagement." F-16 favors a "two circle engagement." But two F-16's vs one Mig 29 in visual range (vs BVR), the Mig 29 is dead no matter the manner of engagement.

I think the F-16 that Thailand have--are from the 80s Srikcir--- their top aircraft are the 12 JAS-39 Gripen fighter jets

The submarine is a vintage diesel powered model and the F-35 are delivered with an option for two jet engines.

Thai F-35's will be easily shot down by the MIG in a dogfight because they won't have the advanced weapons systems that make them so deadly from a distance.

Just before anyone chimes in, the Thais have already said they will not be buying the weapons systems themselves.

So they didn't know it was coming until it was already over the border, tut tut.

No doubt the defence minister will be pulled up by his lanyards for a breach of national security he likes to preach on about at every given opportunity to keep the emergency decree in place.

Another example of how ineffective it actually is apart from being used to prosecute opposition to his crumbling regime.

and the French, and the Japanese...........but seriously, no one will ever know how many died on both sides of the border with all the skirmishes they have had with China since 1980, and it was mostly artillery and ground forces hand to hand.

The shooting at the rebels in Myanmar is ok the problem is when you are flying that high international borders get hard to see.  I am surprised that this does not happen more often.

I think the last  thing that the junta wants is to give Thais a reason to start aiding the rebels.

Heaven forbid that they actually hit a Thai with the wild shots.

They won’t start aiding the rebels !

There is still an open invoice with the Karen from Myanmar, the Ratchaburi terrorist attack :

Sickening:

PM Prayut said today that the incursion into Thai airspace of a Myanmar MiG-29 jet, which flew over Tak province yesterday, is not a big deal, noting that the Myanmar military has already offered an apology and that the two countries enjoy good relations.

in the early 90's we installed radar systems for RTAF most of the time the guys in the OPs room were looking at porn...probably all blind by now!!

I know a guy who was on that project, ex-USAF. He told me that the operators were told not to f&*k with the AC, but would bring their girlfriends in who would then complain it was too cold. Constant need to replace fried circuits due to heat-overload.

You missed the twitter video posted above then? The jets were low and local Thai's had to run for cover, damage to trucks and roads etc

Bullet holes look like fired from a 22 hand gun, not from 30mm cannon from a mig 29. Also plane almost above car when it fired, so how were the holes in the side of the car?

Unfortunately, yes!

Russia's war means fewer arms for Myanmar - Asia Times

What they have mostly is Russian equipment, which hasn't exactly distinguished itself in Ukraine.

The original 10 MiG-29s were bought from Russia in 2001 by SPDC. The systems were upgraded in 2017, though overall the aircraft are a generation behind the world's latest. They have at least two dozen 29s now, though some are trainers. They have Russian Mi-24 attack helicopters and Mi-17s, which are used to ferry generals around. They may have a few ballistic missiles supplied by North Korea, and previously SPDC was in talks with North Korea to provide assistance on Myanmar developing its own atomic bomb. Overall their equipment is poorly maintained by poorly trained techs.

The Tatmadaw can produce a good looking bunch of soldiers on Army Day in March, but the majority of their forces are poorly trained and poorly equipped. When the Saffron revolution took place in 2007, troops from rural regions were trucked into Yangon. Most of those troops were wearing sandals and were gobsmacked by the 'modern' city of Yangon. They carry H&K G3 (knockoffs) assault rifles made locally, though some still carry Enfield 404s. Generally they are not given too many rounds, because their higher ups don't really trust them. They rely heavily on asymmetrical warfare, which is to say they go after unarmed civilians. When faced with motivated fighters like the Kachin, they tend not to fare well.

In rural areas, most are not supplied well, and rely heavily on theft from villagers for food and water. They still simply seize villagers for porter work, or worse, to clear mine fields that the Kachin, Shan State Army, Wa or Kokang might have laid.

link to video of the 2 Myanmar MiGs' attack on Thai territory and people:

Is this video supposed to be showing bullet holes in the car...but a MiG 29 have cannons which fire:

High effective explosive charge (RDX+Al), providing for secondary incendiary effect

High reliability in combat conditions burst of 4-5 rounds in enough for defeating enemy aircraft during close air combat

Possibly shrapnel from HE / HEI 30mm rounds, not from direct hits from the HE rounds.  Explosive rounds can also cause secondary shrapnel effects from hitting ground, causing rocks to be the secondary shrapnel, or any other hard object that becomes a projectile, which are also lethal.
