Nutcharut "Mink" Wongharuthai, World Women's Snooker Champion 2022

Various websites in Thailand as well as the BBC are reporting that the World Six Red Snooker Championship (men's main tour) will be held from September 5th to 10th at the BCC Hall at Central Plaza Ladprao shopping center in northern Bangkok.

The shortened form of the traditional 15 red game has proved very popular in the past. The defending champion is Stephen Maguire. Past winners include multiple 15 red world champion Mark J Williams.

The men's event will be followed by the women's six red championship also in Bangkok at a venue yet to be announced from 11th to 13th September.

This is sure to feature Thailand's women's world champion Nutcharut "Mink" Wongharuthai.

Back in February aged just 22 Mink defeated Wendy Jans of Belgium to win the women's world championship in Sheffield 6-5 on the final black.

She has been called a standard bearer of the women's game. She played in the last men's six ball world championship also in Ladprao before the pandemic.

Snooker fans will be hoping that she and the other Thai stars of the game will also be playing in the invitational event at Ladprao, reports ASEAN NOW.
